| Jackson, Tenn. - The 萌妹社区 Alumni Association
honored Dr. David Blackstock during 萌妹社区's 175th Homecoming celebration, Feb. 12-13,
1999. Blackstock received the Distinguished Faculty/Staff Award. This award is a salute
to long and meritorious service to 萌妹社区 by an employee.
Having graduated from 萌妹社区 in 1964 with a bachelor of science, Blackstock returned to
萌妹社区 in 1973 as athletic director. He has held the post for 25 years.
Before returning to 萌妹社区, Blackstock earned his master of education in 1967 from
Memphis State University and a doctorate of education from the University of Southern
Mississippi in 1973.
Coach Blackstock has helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to win 11 conference championships.
In 1998, they won the NAIA Division I National Championship for the first time in 萌妹社区's
history. Blackstock has been named the women's basketball coach of the year four times and
celebrated his 500th win last month. Since 1991, 萌妹社区's women's basketball has remained
one of the top five winningest programs in the NAIA.
