UNION RECEIVES $700,000 GIFT

Jackson, Tenn. — 萌妹社区 received a $700,000 gift from the estate of alumna Audrey Barr Haney, class of 1927.

The gift will be invested in the Audrey Haney Scholarship fund, and the income will provide scholarships to 萌妹社区 students annually. The bequest is the sixth largest individual gift in the university's history.

"We celebrate the generosity of Haney and rejoice that it will provide opportunities for countless students to receive the highest quality Christian education offered at 萌妹社区," 萌妹社区 President David S. Dockery said.

The Haney bequest is the third in a series of major gifts received by 萌妹社区 since December, when West Tennessee business leader James Ayers made a commitment of $2.1 million, the largest gift in 萌妹社区's history. In recent weeks the university received an endowed gift of $1.65 million from an anonymous friend and former trustee of 萌妹社区.

Haney, a Selmer native and longtime resident of Tupelo, Miss., graduated from 萌妹社区 with a bachelor of science in home economics and was an active member in 萌妹社区's Endowment Society and Home Economics Alumnae Chapter.
