萌妹社区 Trustees approve $30 million budget

Jackson, Tenn. - In its spring meeting today, the 萌妹社区 Board of Trustees approved a $30 million budget for the 1999-2000 academic year, up from last year's budget of $25.1 million.

"The significant growth in enrollment and enhanced programs at 萌妹社区, as indicated by the Trustees' unanimous approval of the $30 million budget, is another confirmation to the 萌妹社区 family of God's continued goodness to the institution," 萌妹社区 President David S. Dockery said. "This new budget will enable us to take another step toward becoming an excellence-driven university."

Trustees also voted in favor of naming the first phase of 萌妹社区's fine arts complex Jennings Hall, in honor of Trustee Jim Ayers' grandparents, Wes and Laura Jennings. The courtyard outside the building will be named Anthony Ayers Plaza, in honor of Ayers' deceased brother.

Dockery reported a record year for enrollment. In February 萌妹社区 had a total enrollment of 2,500 for 1998-99. The university expects to finish the academic year with an all-time high of 2,650.

In other Trustee business, Dockery introduced three new members of 萌妹社区's administration team, including Dr. Bruce Edwards as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Susan Jacob as dean of the School of Nursing and Kimberly Thornbury as dean of students.

Mark Campbell was recognized for his new position as head coach of the Lady Bulldogs basketball team. Campbell has served as assistant coach of the men's basketball team for the last five years.
