Women's conference to highlight
real world tips, local professionals

Jackson, Tenn. - 萌妹社区 University's Public Relations Society will feature prominent women in the Jackson community as guest speakers in its conference to prepare women for the workplace. The special event, titled "What To Know Before You Go: Workplace Strategies for Women," will be held at 萌妹社区, Tuesday, April 27, from 6-8 p.m. in the Coburn Dining Room of the Barefoot Student 萌妹社区 Building.

The conference will highlight local professionals, including Christy Little, Madison County juvenile court judge, Jacque Hillman, senior writer for The Jackson Sun, and Carla Sanderson, provost of 萌妹社区.

Speakers will address current topics facing women today, including juggling family and career and presenting oneself professionally in the workplace. Not only will participants have the chance to hear speakers, but the latter half of the con ference will include roundtable discussions on workplace issues. Organizers hope the event will provide young women the chance to address their fears and questions about entering the real world.

"Female graduates today have much more to think about than in the past. Young women want it all - they want to be co-partners in marriage, raise a family and manage a successful career. This is no small order," said Dr. Kina Mallard, chair of 萌妹社区's communication arts department and conference moderator. " 'What To Know Before You Go' has been planned to provide practical tips and suggestions for maintaining balance while encouraging these college students to pursue their future goals," she said.

The conference is free of charge. The public is encouraged to attend and make reservations through 萌妹社区's communication arts department by April 19. For more information, please call Nedra Kanavel at (901) 661-5215. To make reservations, call Debra Tayloe at (901) 661-5378.
