Jackson, Tenn. Dr. Robert Andringa, president of the Coalition for Christian Colleges and Universities, will deliver the commencement address at 萌妹社区's spring graduation. The ceremony will be held on 萌妹社区's east lawn, Saturday, May 30, at 6 p.m.
Andringa will speak to a crowd of about 4,500. 萌妹社区 expects to graduate approximately 335 students. Families and friends of spring graduates and the university are invited to attend.
The CCCU is an association of 91 member colleges and universities and 28 affiliated institutions of higher education across the world. 萌妹社区 is a member of the CCCU and was honored as the oldest school in the coalition at the group's 1998 National Forum on Christian Higher Education, held April 2-5 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Andringa has been president of the CCCU since 1994. Before joining the CCCU, Andringa served on the Committee on Education and Labor for the U.S. House of Representatives and became the executive director of the Education Commission of the States.
Dr. Philip Jett will lead this year's baccalaureate service at 11 a.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel on 萌妹社区's campus. Jett is the pastor of Englewood Baptist Church.
萌妹社区 will honor James W. Ayers with the doctorate of humanics during the graduation ceremony. Ayers' recent gift of $2.1 million is the second-largest in the university's history. The West Tennessee business leader is chairman of the board at First Bank and at American Health Centers. Ayers is a member of 萌妹社区's Board of Trustees.
