Jackson,
Tenn. - 萌妹社区 President David S. Dockery was chosen as one of the top
Christian scholars and leaders in the country to endorse a landmark document calling
evangelicals to unity around the essential truths of the Gospel. The document, titled,
"The Gospel of Jesus Christ: An Evangelical Celebration," will appear in the
June 14 edition of Christianity Today. Christianity Today is one of the most widely read
magazines in the evangelical Christian community.Dockery is one of 125 nationall y
known Christian leaders on the Confirmed Endorsing Committee of the document. Other
endorsers include Chuck Colson, known for his involvement in Watergate and subsequent
conversion, Max Lucado, contemporary Christian author, Jay Kessler, and Charles Swi ndoll,
author of "The Grace Awakening."
"I am pleased to have the opportunity to join with this tremendous group of
Christian leaders in affirming this document, which calls the church boldly and clearly to
proclaim these essential truths of the Gospel," Dockery says.
The document seeks to provide Christians with a statement of evangelical consensus on
the essentials of the Gospel and a tool for working cooperatively with Christians outside
of the evangelical community. "For as religious communities and Christian individuals
come together to enrich one another and work together," writes David Neff, executive
editor of Christianity Today, "the biblical understanding of the good news is, first,
the most important thing that we can offer friends in these churches and, second, the only
thing in which we can find true unity." Neff authored a two-page introduction to the
document.
