as alumni director

Gary WilliamsJackson, Tenn
. - 萌妹社区 University has named Gary Williams its executive director of the 萌妹社区 National Alumni Association. Williams will begin work at 萌妹社区 Aug. 10.

The school's Alumni Association includes all 萌妹社区 alumni and is led by its officers, a board of directors and the executive director. As executive director, Williams will establish and strengthen alumni chapters around Tennessee and across the nation, coordinate Homecoming and other alumni events, and assist alumni in finding ways to support their alma mater.

According to 萌妹社区 President David S. Dockery, "The executive director of the 萌妹社区 Alumni Association plays a pivotal role in building and maintaining relationships between the institution and one of its most valuable constituencies: graduates and former students."

A long-time friend and active alumnus of the university, Williams, '71, brings 25 years of involvement in the Alumni Association to his new post.

Williams was elected the Alumni Association's president in 1997 and has been an Alumni Association board member since 1991.

"Gary Williams has loved and supported 萌妹社区 for many years. I can think of no one better equipped to guide 萌妹社区's Alumni Association into the 21st century with a new sense of energy and commitment," 萌妹社区 Executive Vice President Michael Duduit said.

"萌妹社区 is responsible for the best things in my life. I met my wife of 28 years there, and we have maintained the close friendships that were borne during our time at 萌妹社区," Williams asserted. "The university's next few years are going to be her most exciting. As the school's Campus Master Plan unfolds, I want to build stronger relationships with alumni and help them share in this time."

Williams comes to 萌妹社区 after nine years at the Madison/Chester Association of Baptists and Crockett County Baptist Association. Williams first served as the groups' associate director of missions and director of education and promotion. In 1994, he became executive director.

Williams, his wife Dale, '71, and their daughter Paige, '98, are members of First Baptist Church, Jackson, Tenn.
