Jackson, Tenn. - Max Walker, a former trustee and graduate of 萌妹社区 University, received the Robert E. Craig Service Award, Saturday, Dec. 18, during the university's fall commencement exercises.

The award, established in 1998 by the Board of Trustees, is named for 萌妹社区's 13th president who led the university for two decades and was responsible for reestablishing 萌妹社区 with the churches of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and for leading in the relocation to the current location in Jackson. Craig was known as a person who demonstrated genuine servant leadership, which is why 萌妹社区's highest service award is appropriately named after him.

Walker, the second recipient of the Robert E. Craig Service Award, served as a trustee for 萌妹社区 for two terms from 1992-1998. During that time, his responsibilities included offering leadership to the Church Services and Campus Ministries Committee, as well as serving on the Board's Executive committee as secretary, extending guidance to the Trustee Nominating Committee and also served on the Presidential Search Committee.

Walker, a native of Selmer, is pastor of First Baptist Church in Selmer.
