President’s Reception to be held – new year off to a great start

JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 29, 2001 — ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø President David S. Dockery and ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø First Lady Mrs. Lanese Dockery will host the President’s Reception Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. in Coburn Dining Room.

The annual event, open to students, faculty, staff, and friends of the university, is an opportunity for the ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø family to visit, and one that the Dockerys look forward to each year.

In an address during the previous week at a faculty and staff luncheon, Dockery said that the new school year continues to look promising. The following are some of the highlights concerning enrollment:

Summer school enrollment for 2001 increased with 1,204 students enrolled in 2001 compared with 1,013 in 2000 (includes both Jackson and Germantown campuses).

ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø’s largest non-duplicating headcount ever occurred in 2001 with 3,130 students enrolled compared with 2,183 five years ago.

For the fourth consecutive year, more than 400 freshmen have started their first year at ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø.

For the first time in ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø’s history, more than 1100 students are residential, bringing student housing to 99% full capacity.
