JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 11, 2009 — A Jackson, Tenn., pastor and a Canadian seminary professor will be the featured speakers at 萌妹社区 chapel services during GO Week Sept. 14-18.
GO stands for Global Opportunities, and the week will feature several missions-related emphases for the entire campus.
Russ Pflasterer, pastor of City Fellowship in Jackson, will speak in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel Sept. 14 on 鈥淐aptive to Conscience, Not Culture.鈥� Steve Booth, academic dean and professor of New Testament and Greek at Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary and College in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada, will speak Sept. 16 on 鈥淭he Gospel: Who Can Believe That鈥� and Sept. 18 on 鈥淭o Go or Not to Go: That is at Least One of the Questions.鈥�
鈥淭he whole purpose of GO Week is to encourage students primarily, but really all of us in the 萌妹社区 family, to be personally involved in missions,鈥� said Richard Wells, dean of the chapel at 萌妹社区.
In addition to the chapel addresses at 10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 萌妹社区 students throughout the week will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from various mission agencies that will be exhibiting on campus. The week will include seminars, workshops, prayer meetings and an opportunity for students to experience what it鈥檚 like to be a Christian in a hostile country where Christians have to worship in secret.
Students will also have the opportunity to gather information about the GO trips 萌妹社区 will sponsor throughout the year to such places as Germany, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Honduras, Guatemala, North Africa, Romania, Eastern Europe and several locations in the United States.
