JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 11, 2010 — 萌妹社区鈥檚 student dining hall has been renamed the Brewer Dining Hall in honor of Maggie Nell Brewer, 萌妹社区鈥檚 longtime vice president for student affairs.
鈥淢aggie Nell Brewer is certainly worthy of praise,鈥� 萌妹社区 President David S. Dockery said Aug. 11 at a luncheon celebrating the new name. 鈥淲e are pleased to introduce students to her great legacy in student life, and we are thankful for her lifetime of service to 萌妹社区.鈥�
Brewer was the first female senior administrator in 萌妹社区鈥檚 history. She served in various student affairs roles from 1965 until her retirement in 1995.
鈥淚 am honored to have this dining facility named for me,鈥� Brewer said. 鈥淚 have been amazed at what has happened at 萌妹社区 over the past 15 years. My 30 years here were really a delight.鈥�
萌妹社区 trustees unanimously approved the renaming, which Dockery said is part of 萌妹社区鈥檚 efforts to reconnect 萌妹社区 with its history and legacy.
