JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 27, 2019 — Poet Marcus Wicker will give a reading March 7 at 萌妹社区 as part of the 27th annual Creative Writing Workshop for West Tennessee high school students.
Wicker teaches in the Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Memphis and is the poetry editor of Southern Indiana Review. His poetry collections, 鈥淢aybe the Saddest Thing鈥 and 鈥淪ilencer,鈥 were both selected as finalists for the NAACP Image Award. 鈥淢aybe the Saddest Thing鈥 was also selected for the National Poetry Series, and 鈥淪ilencer鈥 won the Society of Midlan Authors Award and the Arnold Adoff Poetry Award for New Voices.
Wicker has received many other awards for his poems, which have appeared in publications such as The Nation, Poetry and Boston Review.
His reading will begin at 1 p.m. in Harvey Auditorium, located in the Barefoot Student 萌妹社区 building on the 萌妹社区 campus. The reading is free and open to the public and will be followed by a book signing.
