JACKSON, Tenn.Jan. 30, 2024 — A major grant from the state of Tennessee will help fund safety and security upgrades on the 萌妹社区 campus over the next several months.

The Higher Education Safety Grant from the Department of Finance and Administration and the Office of Criminal Justice Programs totals $290,689.

鈥淲e are grateful for the State of Tennessee and for their financial assistance,鈥 said Bryan Carrier, 萌妹社区鈥檚 vice president for student life and dean of students. 鈥淭his Higher Education Safety Grant is an enormous blessing and will help us better care for the safety of all those who work, learn, live and recreate at 萌妹社区.鈥

The grant will fund such projects as:

  • concrete barriers, in the form of planters, that will be placed at strategic locations to limit vehicular access.

  • electronic access control for academic buildings on the main 萌妹社区 campus.

  • enhanced security camera coverage.

  • installation of a new vehicular control gate at the Walker Road entrance to permit electronic access.

The grant allows 17 months for the projects to be completed, but Carrier said he expects 萌妹社区 to finish these projects much earlier.
