萌妹社区鈥檚 athletic training education program is the first to be accredited in West Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn.Nov. 22, 2002 — The athletic training education program at 萌妹社区 recently received full accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program and its joint Review Committee on Athletic Training. 萌妹社区鈥檚 athletic program is the first university program of its type to be accredited in West Tennessee.

鈥淲e are extremely pleased with the five-year-accreditation for our sports medicine and athletic training program,鈥 said Lynn Stranak, chair of the Physical Education, Wellness and Sports program at 萌妹社区. 鈥淲e feel it really reflects the quality and excellence of our department and university.鈥

By 2004, anyone wanting to become a certified athletic trainer will have had to go through a curriculum program at a university that has an accredited program, said Stranak, placing the university well ahead of the requirements and giving an edge to 萌妹社区 students entering the program.

萌妹社区 has been educating and preparing students for careers in the field through the program for several years. 萌妹社区鈥檚 student trainers are active in the daily treatments and preparation of its athletes for practice and competition. They also grow in their knowledge of medical, technical and practical aspects of the sports medicine industry.
