National Radio Address Praises 萌妹社区 President

JACKSON, Tenn.Jan. 31, 2003 — Prominent Christian author and speaker Charles Colson praised the work of 萌妹社区 president David S. Dockery in promoting a Christian worldview as part of his Jan. 31 BreakPoint national radio commentary.

鈥淰irtually every course taught at 萌妹社区 reflects what Dockery calls 鈥榓 passion for learning based on the supposition that all truth is God鈥檚 truth,鈥欌 Colson said. He recognized Dockery鈥檚 work at 萌妹社区 as one of the 鈥渂est examples of this emerging interest in worldview.鈥

鈥淲e are grateful for Mr. Colson鈥檚 strong and stirring endorsement of 萌妹社区,鈥 said Dockery regarding the address. 鈥淭he coupling of the university鈥檚 commitment to rigorous academics and its dedication to a Christian worldview make the 萌妹社区 education distinctive in today鈥檚 world.鈥

Colson also cited the book Shaping a Christian Worldview: The Foundations of Christian Higher Education, edited by Dockery and 萌妹社区 professor Gregory Thornbury, as an excellent display of Dockery鈥檚 commitment to an education which engages the culture with Christian thinking.

Colson is the author of more than twenty books on the Christian life and worldview, a syndicated columnist, and the host of BreakPoint, a nationally syndicated daily radio broadcast. He is also the founder and chairman of the board of Prison Fellowship, an international organization that assists prisoners and their families.

In recent years, Colson has developed a strong relationship with 萌妹社区, based on the commitment to Christian worldview shared by Colson, Dockery and the university鈥檚 trustees. The Charles Colson Chair of Faith and Culture at 萌妹社区 was established in 2002 and is currently held by Dr. Harry L. Poe. Colson also teaches through 萌妹社区鈥檚 online learning program.

鈥淲e appreciate and admire Mr. Colson鈥檚 strong example in the area of worldview thinking,鈥 said Dockery.
