JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 1, 2003 — The 萌妹社区 Players will present Die Ratzel, a play written by 萌妹社区 graduate and Jackson resident James Nolen. The play will run Oct. 9-14 at 萌妹社区鈥檚 W.D. Powell Theatre.
Die Ratzel placed second in the Christians in Theatre Arts Playwriting contest in 2000. The show will be directed by David Burke, associate professor of theatre and director of the university's theatre.
The cast includes veteran performers Jeremy Parker as the Direktor, Emily Brown as Older Helena, Allie Campbell as Young Helena, Andy Morris as a Nazi soldier, Kristen Garner as Mel the Juggler, and Ryan Schunemann as the Jew, the Corpse, and the Priest. Newcomers to the 萌妹社区 stage include Nick Pfost as Young Reichter, Ben Lancaster as M.C., Josh Wilkinson as a Nazi soldier, and Brian Chastain as Hindenburg.
Performances are 8 p.m. nightly, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Oct. 12. General admission tickets for adults are $7. Reserved seating is $8. General admission tickets for children and students are $3, $4 for reserved seating.
The 萌妹社区 Players are also hosting an Oct. 8 Dollar Night during the final dress rehearsal open only to students. All seats will cost $1.
The Players will present Die Ratzel as a competition piece at the American Theatre College Festival at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tenn. Oct. 22-25. The festival is a production of the Kennedy Center in Washington and the Tennessee Theatre Association.
