Growing up in Savannah, Tennessee, frequent trips to Jackson introduced Maggie Miller to 萌妹社区. Although she had friends who decided to attend 萌妹社区, she initially looked into colleges elsewhere.

However, her interest shifted when she learned about 萌妹社区鈥檚 strong nursing program. After a bit of prompting from her mom, she decided to apply.

Still, when she saw the tuition costs, she wasn鈥檛 sure attending 萌妹社区 would be possible.

When her enrollment counselor reached out and invited her to a Scholars of Excellence competition weekend, she was able to see the financial support 萌妹社区 offered; that鈥檚 when 萌妹社区 went from impossible to possible.

Now a sophomore, Miller has adjusted to life at 萌妹社区, and one of her favorite things about the university is the people. After attending public high school, Miller found 萌妹社区 refreshing. 鈥淚t鈥檚 just a different environment,鈥� she said. Meeting new, like-minded people is one aspect of 萌妹社区 she most enjoys.

Events like Welcome Week initially helped her connect with other freshmen and start building friendships. But now, Miller sees that it鈥檚 not just one event; it鈥檚 萌妹社区鈥檚 culture. From 萌妹社区 President Dub Oliver speaking to her if she sees him on campus to new friends inviting her to lunch, she feels like there is a trickle-down effect of kindness and friendship.

As a nursing student, Miller said the program can be challenging, but she likes it. Her professors have been very supportive throughout her time at 萌妹社区.

鈥淚鈥檝e never had an issue in a class or with a professor or anything that when I鈥檝e gone to that professor hasn鈥檛 gotten better,鈥� she said. 鈥淭hey鈥檝e always offered me a productive solution. They want to talk. They want you to succeed. And that makes it easier to talk to them.鈥�

Miller hopes to complete a specialized nurse practitioner degree or become a nurse anesthetist.
